Apologizing in the Dark

Bali's Rotating Blackout Schedules Incorrect; PLN Issues an Apology.

Bali News: Apologizing in the Dark
(1/11/2010) As Bali's program of rotating black outs enters its third month, public displeasure with the service, or lack thereof, from the State Electricity Board (PLN) continues to mount, fueled further by the inability of PLN to publish an accurate schedule of power cuts.

Publicly apologizing for its ineptitude, PLN is vowing to accelerate the repairs underway at the Gilimanuk Generating Station that, once completed, will end the monotony of 2-3 blackouts each week for many Bali residents.

PLN originally announced repairs would be completed and the related blackouts would end on December 6, 2009. That deadline was later moved to January 15, 2010, when PLN reported spare parts were still being sought for the damaged generator at the Gilimanuk power plant.

PLN officials in Gilimanuk told beritabali.com that they were hopeful that the program of rotating blackouts would end on January 8, 2010 - a full week earlier than the January 15 revised deadline.
